For three years, the Orange Ivory Coast Telecom Foundation has supported social projects in the health, educational and cultural domains throughout the entire Ivory Coast territory.
The Orange Ivory Coast Foundation and Côte d’Ivoire Telecom have always been involved in citizen actions to improve people's lives, contribute to the well-being of Ivory Coast citizens and thus affirm their social responsibility. In order to consolidate these actions and make them permanent, in November 2006 both operators created the Orange-Ivory Coast Telecom Foundation (OCIT for its initials in French), which therefore allows them to get closer and interact better with the Ivory Coast society as a whole.
diverse social projects
For three years, the OCIT foundation has supported phylantropy projects throughout the entire territory. "We are committed to the health domain with the hearing and visually impaired, explains Claudine Kouadio, project representative. We particularly organise free screening campaigns, and we contribute to an equipment and rehabilitation project for the National Ivory Coast Institute for the Promotion of the Blind (INIPA)".
In the area of education, the foundation supports projects for the schooling of young girls (through grants for deserving secondary school students from the Saint-Viateur of Bouaké school), and women's literacy, by rehabilitating the specialised centre of Attécoubé, a precarious district of Abidjan. Finally, the foundation is committed to the artistic promotion of young talents with, for example, the accompaniment of the CD production of the INIPA choir, the literacy of the students of the School of Dance and Cultural Exchanges (EDEC) and the emphasising of the heritage of the Ivory Coast through, in particular, the creation of a museum in Abengourou, a large city in the east of the country.
"Since its creation, our foundation has carried out over 63 projects. Through these actions, we show our everyday commitment to the society of the Ivory Coast, emphasises Claudine Kouadio. And "because to live is to share", the foundation continues enriching its experience with that of its elder, the Orange Foundation, with which convivial exchanges are established.
