consolidation of contractual clauses
Formerly called "Ethics and environment", clauses the "Ethical Practices - corporate responsibility" clauses, defined in 2008, consequently include the fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organisation (on forced labour, child labour and the fight against discrimination). Contained in our supplier contracts classified at the Group level, this clause contributes to a better consideration of the principles of sustainable development by the suppliers and subcontractors.
favouring responsible purchases
Orange worked in 2008 with equipment suppliers in order to gather the information necessary for the launching of environmental displays for about thirty products. This association should eventually allow us to favour the purchases of more environmental telephone terminals.
prepared for REACH!
As part of the European regulation on chemical products REACH (Registration, Valuation, Authorization and restriction of CHemicals), Orange has established a process to guarantee the compliance of its activities and consults all its suppliers. Our Group has set up an Internet questionnaire for its suppliers, in order to answer the obligation to inform its own customers about the presence or not of worrying substances in the equipment sold. Monitoring of the evolution of this regulation is also undertaken.
stronger CSR approach in China
For more than four years, our purchasing office in China, established in Beijing, has developed a close relation with the main suppliers and has acquired great knowledge of the local industrial and social context. Its job also includes raising the awareness of our suppliers regarding CSR. After a first campaign of quality audits in 2008, Orange decided that these audits would be carried out in 2009 by a local contractor on a range of products consisting of Livebox and printed circuit boards. ![]()
