Poland: TP gets involved in the children's Internet safety
11 participants (Internet service providers and NGOs) recently signed an agreement for the safety of children on the Internet sponsored by the TP Group. The document, written under the sponsorship of the Polish Commissioner managing equality, urges its signatories to guarantee the safety of children on the Internet and to protect them against illegal content, such as pornography or those encouraging hate, particularly through the roll out of collective or individual communication and educational programs.

"Teach Today"
Our Group is one of the founding members of the European initiative Teach Today, which aims at providing teachers with tools to raise pupils awareness of safe Internet use.

Poland and Romania: actions to protect children

A study on the Internet and children's safety, led by our Polish subsidiary TP and the Nobody's Children Foundation, showed that children knew much more than their parents about Internet use. TP therefore distributed a free booklet "Media without danger" at all sales points, and three television spots were broadcast during the month of November. In Romania, Orange got together with a local NGO in order to deploy the Safer Internet Plus program in the country; this plan was initiated by the European community for safer Internet use.

a mobile campaign in Slovakia
Following a study on the use of mobile phones by children, led by Orange Slovakia and an opinion poll institute, an awareness campaign was held in the schools. In this framework, the booklet "What parents should know" was updated and an instructive website on the appropriate use of communication means was established at www.oskole.sk.

appropriate use of mobile phones

In 2008, all our subsidiaries agreed to define common recommendations on the appropriate use of mobile phones and communicated them to the customers wishing to reduce their exposure to electromagnetic fields (among these recommendations, is the example of the use of headsets). All Orange mobiles comply with international recommendations (ICNIRP) and have a lower Specific Absorption Rate less than 2W/kg.

monitoring electromagnetic fields
The group actively participates in numerous research programs notably in France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom and contributes to the works of the sector's standardisation organisations. An international watch unit on electromagnetic fields and health sends information daily to all our entities (as well as a monthly summary) on the state of researches in Europe and throughout the world to guarantee consistent knowledge.

Orange organises the 15th edition of the international symposium on EMF

On December 18th, 2008, the Group organised the fifteenth edition of its international symposium on electromagnetic fields. On this occasion, French and foreign experts evaluated the knowledge concerning the impact of electromagnetic fields on human health.
