10,000 managers trained at Orange Campus

Paris, December 13, 2011

Since it was launched in January 2011, Orange's new management development centre, Orange Campus, has welcomed 10,000 managers – half of the Group's 20,000 managers.

Orange Campus, created under the leadership of Stéphane Richard, Chairman and CEO of France Telecom-Orange, plays a central role in the management renewal process that started in 2010 with the launch of the New Social Contract, which aims to put the Group's employees back at the heart of the company. Orange Campus is designed to create a community of managers who have a key role to play in ensuring an equitable relationship between the company and its employees, and to provide them with support in their everyday responsibilities.

Orange Campus aims to develop managers' skills and to renew the Group's management culture by implementing a new style of management. The Orange way of training is based on sharing experiences, interaction and cooperation, to develop a common knowledge base and set of best practices for all Group managers. Orange Campus, which emphasises openness, is a genuine forum for encounters and exchanges. It unites the entire management community while strengthening ties and the feeling of belonging to the Group.

The 650 Orange Campus sessions hosted since January 2011 have brought together team managers (72% of participants), managers of managers (22%), and talents, leaders and executives (6%), reflecting the distribution of the different management roles present in the Group.

Orange Campus offers close to 60 management development programmes, all of them based on 3 principles:
diversity: an opportunity for people at different levels of management to work together in shared programmes (35 programmes, more than half of the catalogue);
a wide variety of programmes for managers in different activities and from all of the Group's countries (24 international programmes); the programme content is identical for all participants in order to ensure that they share the same values and management culture;
flexibility: 35% of the catalogue is tailored to support managers as they deal with the specific challenges of their businesses and teams.

The programmes are divided into 3 ranges:
the dedicated management pathways: the basics of management, to prepare managers to take on new responsibilities (duration: 3 to 8 days over a year);
collective development programmes: made-to-measure programmes to help executives mobilise and develop their teams - "shared challenges" (average duration: 5 days);
individual development modules to improve management practices and skills (average duration: 1 to 2 days).

After the first 11 months of activity, the programmes which have attracted most of the managers are:
"how to communicate effectively"
"how to develop your people"
"motivate and engage your people"
The most frequently requested “collective challenges” are "fostering cooperation", "customer first" and "empowering your team".

The Orange Campus programmes are held on three international sites located in Paris, Serock (Poland) and Madrid, as well as dedicated sites in Bordeaux, Marseille, Nancy and Rennes. 2,000 of the 10,000 managers trained are from outside France, and the year's trainees originate from 25 different countries, including Botswana, Dominican Republic, France, Madagascar, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Slovakia and Spain. Orange Campus is set to continue its international growth, with the upcoming opening of a new site in Africa.
