The 2010 Orange Book Award community has chosen Jacques Gélat for his novel Le Traducteur Amoureux

Yesterday night, Christine Albanel, Executive Vice President, Orange group, and Erik Orsenna, Member of the Académie Française and President of the Orange Book Award’s jury, announced the results of the Internet votes (voting closed on 20 June) during a ceremony held at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (Paris).

Following several weeks of discussions and sharing views on their favorite books on the orange.fr/prixorangedulivre site, the internet community has just chosen the second Orange Book Award winner from a selection of five novels taken from an initial shortlist of 30 books published between January 1 and April 30, 2010.  Jacques Gélat succeeds Fabrice Humbert, who won the prize last year for his novel L’Origine de la violence (Le Passage).

The 2010 Orange Book Award goes to:

Jacques Gélat
Le Traducteur Amoureux
(José Corti)

The other finalists were:
- Charly Delwart, L’homme de profil même de face (Seuil)
- Emilie Frèche, Chouquette (Actes sud)
- Gilles Leroy, Zola Jackson (Mercure de France)
- Claude Pujade-Renaud, Les femmes du braconnier (Actes sud)

With a 15,000 Euro prize, the Orange Book Award rewards a work of fiction written in French and published in France between January 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010. It is the first literature prize to involve Internet users throughout the whole process - from the early stages, where they comment on their favourite books, up to the final vote in which they alone have the final say.

The Orange Book Community allows Internet users to exchange ideas and talk about their favourite books throughout the year – uniting over 12 000 book lovers.
