the first mobile numbers starting with 07
Owing to the boom in the French mobile market since its initial launch in 1992, numbers beginning with 06 are becoming something of a rarity. So far, Orange has given out more than 31.5 million 06-numbers. To meet the ever-increasing demand for mobile services, Orange will now start giving out numbers beginning with 07 86.

Starting on 3 May, Orange will gradually begin introducing 07-numbers in France. With the reallocation of disused numbers, 06 and 07 will now be given out randomly to new customers.
The change also applies to customers with Orange’s mobile virtual network operators (MVNO).

a new number for the same service
Numbers starting with 06 and 07 will become the two number divisions for mobile services in France.
Access to all mobile services and the cost of communications from and to 07-numbers will be identical to those used by mobile numbers starting with 06. For SMS/MMS, multimedia services, subscriptions and mobicarte, numbers beginning with 07 and 06 will provide identical service and quality.

07: a project involving 1,000 group employees
To carry off such a large project successfully, more than 1,000 Orange employees combined forces as early as the beginning of 2009, including a 300-strong core unit.
The last major development of the new dialling plan dates back to 18 Oct 1996 with the implementation of 10 digit numbers, when mobile numbers starting with 06 were also brought in.
