Orange and RockCorps get together to launch Orange RockCorps in France

Paris, July 21, 2009
Donate 4 hours of your time to attend an exceptional concert

•    Programme officially launched today: French Red Cross kicks off in Val de Marne
•    Rapper SEFYU joins Orange RockCorps volunteers taking part in the project
•    Names of the artists that will open the October 2nd concert revealed today

Sefyu, France's rising rap star, and the phenomenal Busta Rhymes, will perform at Paris Zenith on 2 October for Orange RockCorps volunteers!
Sefyu and Busta Rhymes will be the two leading top-class artists at a concert that money can't buy! The concert programme includes at least 4 national and international feature performers... with something for everyone thanks to an eclectic mixture of musical genres including Pop, Rock, R&B and HipHop. There's only one way to get a ticket: Agree to be a volunteer!
Since 2005, RockCorps has been running an innovative concept: You get a ticket only by volunteering 4 hours of your time to a local partner association.
Last year in the UK, RockCorps, in partnership with Orange, created the first "Orange RockCorps" programme. This edition, which brought together 5,000 volunteers donating a total of 20,000 hours of their time across 41 organisations, was highlighted by an exceptional concert at London's Albert Hall.

With Orange and RockCorps sharing the same values, the Orange-RockCorps partnership has been very obvious:

For Stephen Green, co-founder and CEO of RockCorps, "Music has unlimited power. We're going to organise a phenomenal and unforgettable concert. We'll be running a great festival all summer… a festival to benefit us all. RockCorps has always wanted to create RockCorps concerts in France, where music plays a large and important role in people's lives. Orange is our ideal partner."

For Alice Holzman, Orange's Communications Director in France, "Orange RockCorps is a project that is close to our hearts. This commitment of our youth to our community is a perfect illustration of what we promise to achieve with our "Together we can do more" campaign. We're therefore very proud to launch Orange RockCorps in France following its success in the UK”.

The Orange RockCorps programme officially launched today: The first non-profit project in partnership with France's Red Cross!

The first Orange RockCorps charity project is in partnership with the Val de Marne Red Cross. The rapper Sefyu will be working as a volunteer himself, planting and clearing gardens and trees at the reception centre that offers accommodation and care for homeless people.

Orange RockCorps is delighted to launch its programme in partnership with such a respected organisation as the French Red Cross and, throughout the summer, with other local and national associations.

Orange RockCorps in France means
•    A multi-artist concert on 2 October at the Zenith in Paris
•    4 volunteer hours for 1 concert ticket
•     5,000 volunteers will get tickets
•    20,000 hours of work will be volunteered over the summer
•    OrangeRockCorps projects are carried out in partnership and for the benefit of associations in widely varying fields such as: Healthcare, self-help groups, environment, back-to-work initiatives
•    In groups of 40, 50, 100 or more volunteers doing painting, gardening, cleaning, etc
•    Orange RockCorps is a charity festival! Music is a constant theme, the volunteers working all the time with DJs.

about RockCorps
RockCorps was created by seven friends in the US in 2003 to affect social change and act as the bridge between communities in need and the people who want to make them better. Since that time, RockCorps has combined the power of music, community and volunteerism to expose people to simple ways they can proactively contribute to their communities.
RockCorps is much more than a series of volunteer events and concerts; it is a way to connect young people with dynamic charities already doing great work in the local community. To date over 40,000 people have directly participated in a RockCorps programme around the world…and millions more have heard the message that “volunteering is cool”.
