Catherine Rosenberg

Catherine Rosenberg is currently Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada where she holds a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in the Future Internet.

She is a graduate of Télécom Bretagne (1983), holds a M.S in Computer Science from UCLA (1984), and a "Doctorat en Sciences" from the University of Paris-Orsay (1986). Mrs Rosenberg started her career in Alcatel, Lannion, France and then moved to the USA where she was a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Labs., Holmdel, N.J. In 1988, she started her academic career at Ecole Polytechnique, Montréal, Canada where she stayed till 1996. After spending 3 years in the United Kingdom working for Nortel Networks Harlow, where she created and headed the R&D Department in Broadband Satellite Networking, she joined the faculty of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University in August 1999. While at Purdue, she founded and was the Director of the Center for Wireless Systems and Applications (CWSA). She joined the University of Waterloo on Sept 1st, 2004 as the Chair of the »Department for a three-year term.
Mrs Catherine Rosenberg is a specialist in wireline and wireless networking with emphasis on resource allocation and quality of service. She is the author of over one hundred scientific papers and holds 8 patents on resource allocation, wireless networks, and routing. She is a Fellow of the IEEE.

Mrs Rosenberg has been an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and Series co-Editor for the Series on Adhoc and Sensor Networks for IEEE Communications Magazine. She has helped organized many conferences including IEEE Infocom, IEEE Globecom, International Teletraffic Congress (ITC) and IFIP Broadband Communication. She was on the Board of Governors of the Communications Society (ComSoc) of the IEEE from 2007 to 2009.  She is an Alternate Member of the Board of Directors of Biocon, the largest Biotech Company in India and Member of the Board of Directors of Syngene one of the largest Custom Research Companies (CRC) in India.
