in Poland, Telekomunikacja Polska initiates an Agreement for children’s safety on internet

August 13, 2009 - "Agreement for children’s safety on internet" initiated by TP Group has its first 11 signatories, including internet providers, internet portals and non-governmental organisations acting in the field of children's safety in the network. The initiative has been also supported by the Office of Electronic Communication. The document has been prepared under the patronage of the commissioner in charge of equal treatment: Elżbieta Radziszewska.
This document is a voluntary contribution of all signatories in ensuring children’s safety in the internet – especially in combating illegal contents in the internet such as pornography or exhorting to hatred. The signatories of the Agreement obliged, among others, to initiate common and individual communication and educational actions, create and implement similar procedures in acting against illegal contents as well as to involve in international initiatives concerning children’s safety in electronic media.
First eleven signatories are: Telekomunikacja Polska, PTK Centertel, Wirtualna Polska, the Orange Foundation, Interia.pl, Nobody's Children Foundation (Fundacja Dzieci Niczyje  - Helpline.org.pl), Kidprotect.pl, NASK (Dyżurnet.pl), Polskie Badania Internetu, ArcaBit and Polish Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunications (Polska Izba Informatyki i Telekomunikacji – PIIT) associating 151 companies.
The Agreement was presented at the beginning of July at a press conference the participants of which were, among others: Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, commissioner in charge of equal treatment: Elżbieta Radziszewska, the President of UKE - Anna Streżyńska, the President of Telekomunikacja Polska: Maciej Witucki as well as the leaders of the management boards of companies and institutions that signed the Agreement.
At this occasion, Elżbieta Radziszewska said: “Ensuring that the children using the internet are safe as well as protecting them against contents improper for them is a great challenge today. I believe that we are able to ensure them this safety only if we work together. Therefore, I would like to thank all the signatories and to encourage other companies and institutions to join the initiative” .
